I'm thankful for a God who cares & knows. He's sensitive to how I feel & He knows the BIG picture. When I get my feelings hurt I just need to take a step back & realize that this journey isn't about me or us. It's about glorifying Him & bringing honor to His name.
I hope our experience opens our family & friend's eyes to the journey of adoption! I pray God uses us to glorify Him & to help some other little ones find a forever mommy & daddy.
It's all for a good cause. Because one day..........I'll have my baby & the pain will be worth it all. There will be joy!
Here's the words to a song I heard this morning. They really touched me & are very pertinent to our life right now.
Before the Morning by Josh Wilson
Do you wonder why you have to, feel the things that hurt you,
If there's a God who loves you, where is He now?
Maybe, there are things you can't see,
And all those things are happening, to bring a better ending some day,
Some how, you'll see, you'll see
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
That you still have a reason to sing,'cause the pain you've been feeling,
Can't compare to the joy that's coming
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
Press on, just fight the good fight
Because the pain you've been feeling, it's just the dark before the morning
My friend, you know how this all ends
And you know where you're going,
You just don't know how you get there so, just say a prayer and hold on,
Cause there's good who love God, life is not a snapshot,
It might take a little time, but you'll see the bigger picture
Would dare you, would you dare, to believe,
That you still have a reason to sing, 'cause the pain you've been feeling,
Can't compare to the joy that's coming
So hold on, you got to wait for the light
Press on, just fight the good fight
Because the pain you've been feeling, it's just the dark before the morning

It's so hard when we spend as much time thinking about this as any expectant mother yet others don't understand that. Everyone asks pregnant women how they're feeling (meaning physically but often also asking about their emotional state). Well, I'm emotional! My brain has also been consumed by a child - you just don't see physical signs of this! I also like the sign and you are right. It's about glorifying God in all that we do every day. Thanks for that reminder that is needed....every day! ;)
you're not alone! i TOTALLY understand the emotions in this post...
***Sign should be song. ;)
I am with you too on this, Heather, and completely understand how you feel about the things people say and don't say. This has also become one of my favorite songs. I just love the words to it. Joy is coming and all of this pain of waiting will be over!!
Heather-
You don't know me but I came across your blog from another blog. My husband and I are also adopting from Korea and this will also be our first child. Everything that you have written is exactly what I am feeling - I feel like I am reading my own thoughts! This post today is especially true. I have so many friend who are "expecting" babies (2nd, 3rd & 4th babies!!!) and they are always talking about how they feel, their morning sickness, their ultrasounds, their nursery plans, their baby showers, etc.... It's so hard for me to be happy for them right now. We are longing for our baby so much and there is no way to know when our referral will come...if ever. I would love to talk to you at some point and hear more about your journey. My email is amyomara@comcast.net. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I would love to talk soon!

Completely with you! Sometimes I just like to believe they don't know what to say because it's not something most folks have a lot of experience with. I've had people try to talk with me about it and stumbled over the language of adoption when I was just really excited that they acknowledged I was an expecting mama too!!
